I purchased this dulcimer as a Christmas present for my 17 yr old son who was interested in learning how to play.
His Grandmother, who died in 2006 from cancer, played and we were fortunate to have her old dulcimers. Unfortunately, they are both cracked and beyond repair. The next best thing is to by another for him to learn on.
Within an hour of opening it on Christmas Morning, he was playing the "Wildwood Flower" and has really enjoyed learning many more songs. It is a great kit for anyone wanting to learn how to play without putting a whole pile of money out.
If he continues to show interest in playing we will probably invest in a more expensive model for better tone quality. All in all we are very pleased with this dulcimer pack. We have already recommended it to several friends whose children have expressed interest in learning to play the dulicmer.

Bought it for my 10 year old daughter for Christmas - she was dying for a dulcimer!! Well, it apparently isn't easy to tune and not entirely user friendly, but I'm sure it's OK for what we paid. Most of the best ones are over $300. It looks pretty enough and came with the nice case in which to store it UNDER THE BED!

Product was accurately described. Good starter instrument. It's definitely an instrument that you will grow out of if you really love playing, but it's a good instrument at a good price if you are just looking to test it out.
