Although Time Out it the best guide for NYC (or any other city Time Out reviews) it covers much more ground. The reviews are excellent, esp. for movies. Just great reading.

When you order through a third party or broker and have a problem, the publisher, in this case TimeOut New York cannot or will not help you, they send you back to the "broker" as they describe them.
Unfortunatetly there was a problem with my subscription and I called TimeOut, they sent me to Magazine Outlet the firm behind the Amazon site. The service was just OK, not great. I had to escallate to a manager, the customer service person was sending me back to TimeOut after the sent me to Magazine Outlet!
Magazine Outlet has a very painful voice response unit, slow, they repeat everything, TIP: To bypass and speak with someone live hit zero twice after the voice prompt, and long wait time to speak with someone. When you do speak with someone they are inexperienced and the more challenging issue, they need to resolve with the magazine publisher vs. resolving it on the phone. I called four days ago, received a call back that they were working the case but to date no call back indicating a resolution.
Magazine subscriptions are pretty basic and most folk probably don't have issues but if you do, the process to resolution is a painful one so keep that in mind.

Took advantage of the 8-issues-free offer and cancelled after 6. Have been trying to get my $19.99 back from them for the past 5 months. I have been on the phone with them having the same conversation so many times that I can't stand it anymore. Each time it's the same BS - "you didn't request a refund when you cancelled", " we'll put in for a check to be sent to you", "not sure whey the check hasn't been processed"... If only it was a publication worth all of this trouble.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT MAGAZINE!! IT GIVES DIRECTIONS TO EVERYTHING IN IT!! WHAT BUS,TRAIN, AND DRIVING!! THE MAGAZINE IS A GUIDE ITSELF!! I LOVE IT!!
